Phase II for mungbean - Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research and World Vegetable Center ink agreement for Phase II of the International Mungbean Improvement Network
June 2020
The Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) and the World Vegetable Center inked an agreement for Phase II of the International Mungbean Improvement Network (IMIN) on 15 June 2020.
The document was signed by Prof. Andrew Campbell, CEO, ACIAR and Dr. Marco Wopereis, WorldVeg Director General.
The IMIN was launched in 2016 to connect mungbean researchers from around the world to openly share experiences, knowledge and technologies based on common principles of cooperation.
IMIN partners aim to increase farmer income, system productivity, and food security by delivering high-yielding, pest- and disease-resistant mungbean varieties to smallholder farmers. Network partners make use of genetic and genomic resources for mungbean research and breeding, test improved lines, strengthen seed delivery systems, and foster partnerships between private sector NGOs and farmer groups.
Current partners include:
- Myanmar Department of Agricultural Research
- Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute
- Indian Institute of Pulse Research
- Indonesian Legume and Tuber Crops Research Institute
- Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organisation
- Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries
