New 3D scanner from LemnaTec

Germany
February 18, 2016

Developed exclusively for LemnaTec by the Frauenhofer IIS institute, this new high-resolution laser scanner accurately measures the 3D architecture of plants.

The plant canopy is scanned from above at very high cubicle resolution using an NIR Laser scanner to avoid any interaction with plant physiology. By using two viewpoints, shading is minimized and the system is able to deliver 0.25mm resolution at 10 m/min. The system is suitable for both greenhouse and field applications.

Amazing images can be rotated and analyzed like this, http://we.tl/1v7t3dr7Y2 (download link to raw data) the following program can be used to open the .ptly file http://www.danielgm.net/cc/
