Gro Alliance, the nation’s largest, independently owned seed corn production company, announces the start of construction of a new seed corn conditioning, treating and packaging facility at its Howe, Ind. location.
The nearly $6 million expansion will add 5-10 full-time jobs as well as many seasonal positions during the packaging season. Previously, the Howe location was a drying and shelling location with the conditioning, treating and packaging completed at Gro Alliance’s Cuba City, Wis. or Mt Pulaski, Ill. locations.
“The expansion in Howe is another step in our continued efforts to expand production capacity to meet our clients’ needs,” said Jim Schweigert, President of Gro Alliance. “The expansion doubles our company-wide conditioning, treating and packaging capacity and gives us the most advanced contract seed corn production facility in the country.”
Key features of the new facility are refuge-in-bag blending, batch treating and the most current technology for color sorting, kernel cleaning and seed quality.
Founded in 1941, Gro Alliance is the nation’s largest independently owned contract seed corn production company.
