Corn transformation facility update: PC2 certification secured for glasshouse and laboratory

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
February 25, 2010

Hexima Limited (ASX: HXL), has secured PC2 certification from the Federal Government’s Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) for its new glasshouse and laboratory facility, the Company announced today.

PC2 status (Physical Containment Level 2) is necessary for the production and growth of genetically modified crops, and represents one of the final milestones in the commissioning of the new facility, completed on time and on budget earlier this month. The facility will increase Hexima’s glasshouse space by a factor of five and increase growth room and tissue culture space by a factor of three.

“We are proud of our progress on the corn fungal disease program with DuPont/Pioneer over the past 18 months. Access to substantial glasshouse space becomes critical as the program moves into the glasshouse testing phase,” Professor Marilyn Anderson, Hexima’s Chief Science Officer said.
