David Williamson joins Renze Seeds as an independent contract distributor

Templeton, Iowa
 January 13, 2010

David Williamson of Viborg, South Dakota, has become an independent contract distributor for Renze Seeds headquartered in Templeton, Iowa. In this new position, Williamson works with dealers and growers to introduce the Renze brand.

Williamson’s trade territory includes southeast South Dakota, southwest Minnesota, northwest Iowa, and a small portion of northeast Nebraska.

A veteran seedsman, Williamson began working in the industry in 1996 following a 13-year career with an irrigation equipment company. He enjoys the seed business because of its focus on helping its customers be successful.

Renze Seeds General Manager Craig Williams said they are fortunate to have Williamson on their team. “We sought him out to represent Renze Seeds. I know, and David’s customers know, his word is his bond,” Williams explained. “He’s knowledgeable about seed and concerned about his customers’ well being. He’s exactly the kind of person you want representing your company.”

Williamson takes his customers’ success personally. “It’s a very hands-on business. It’s always face-to-face and that’s what I like,” he remarked. “My dealers have been with me for years. There’s no better feeling than to see someone succeed with your product and feel very good about them doing business with you.”

Williamson became affiliated with Renze Seeds because of the people behind the company, their products, and their relationship with their owner, Dow AgroSciences. “Coming from two smaller seed companies in the past, and knowing what the future holds in this industry, if you do not have direct ties to a technology resource like Dow AgroSciences, it’s going to be very difficult for a company to survive in the present environment,” he observed.

Despite its corporate ownership, Williamson appreciates the family atmosphere at Renze Seeds. “The people involved with this company are almost like family and that’s key for a business like this to succeed. They are very easy to do business with and very accessible,” he explained. “We have the big ties to Dow AgroSciences and the family ties, including the Renze family still being involved on the production side.”

Williamson said growers can have confidence in Renze products as well. “Product performance is the key for any customer and product placement is what we do as seedsmen. Renze Product Specialist Mark Gruhn is probably the most knowledgeable person I’ve ever met in terms of placement,” Williamson stated. “And Craig Williams has high integrity and more concern for the grower than anyone I know.”

Williamson and his wife, Darlene, are the parents of three grown children. Daughter, Amy, and husband, Greg Johnson, have two sons, Austin, 10, and Hunter, 7. David, and his wife, Kelly, are the parents of Dylan, 10, and Makenzie, 6. Youngest son, Ryan, lives in Phoenix where his parents enjoy visiting. In his free time, Williamson enjoys boating with his family on Lewis and Clark Lake near Yankton as well as golf and travel.
