Roger Slater joins Renze Seeds as district sales manager in Northwest Iowa

Templeton, Iowa
October 26, 2009

A seedsman with over 30 years of experience, Roger Slater, joined the Renze Seeds team on October 19, 2009, as a district sales manager. His territory includes Buena Vista, Calhoun, Pocahontas, and Sac Counties.

“I am out meeting people and will work to establish a dealer network, set up plots, and talk with people about Renze Seeds,” Slater stated. “This is a good regional company functioning like a family-owned business putting their customers first.”

Renze Seeds Director of Sales and Marketing Dan Swalla said Slater is an asset to their business, “Roger offers significant experience and skills in the seed industry. Our customers will benefit from his expertise and passion for their livelihoods.”

Prior to joining Renze Seeds, Slater spent the majority of his career with Garst and the last six years in retail agronomy sales with Helena. A native of Templeton, Iowa, where Renze’s headquarters is located, Slater knows his territory and understands the seed business. He also appreciates Renze’s history and success. Their alliance with Dow AgroSciences gives Renze Seeds an added advantage with access to expanded research and technological traits in Slater’s view.

“I know all the people at Renze Seeds and have worked with them a lot over the years. Dan Swalla and Craig Williams are good people as are all the production staff members,” Slater observed. “And people are why I’m in this business. I enjoy getting to know customers and meeting their seed needs.”

Slater resides near Glidden, Iowa, and has two adult sons. When he’s not working, he enjoys golf, fishing, canoeing, and four-wheeling. Slater also describes himself as addicted to farming and crops.

The Renze mission is to provide Midwestern corn, soybean and alfalfa growers with the best genetics, traits and quality possible, thereby improving their profit per acre. For 70 years, Renze Seeds has been a preferred supplier of superior genetics, uncompromising quality and outstanding service to our customers, the American farmers of the Midwest.
