EnviroLogix Inc., a leading provider of test kits for the food and feed safety, water quality, and transgenic trait detection markets, today announced that they have successfully completed their search for a new President and CEO following the retirement of its founder and former President, Bruce S. Ferguson.
John N. Markin, formerly a Manufacturing General Manager for GE Healthcare, is set to join the EnviroLogix team on October 1.
Markin received a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. After many years managing thin film and digital media manufacturing, he moved into managing laboratory consumable and medical device manufacturing with Whatman Inc. and GE Healthcare in 2006.
Dean Layton, Senior Vice President of EnviroLogix, commented, “Attracting someone as qualified and experienced as John is another significant milestone for EnviroLogix, further enhancing our management team. His career with GE showcased outstanding reductions in manufacturing times, waste, and personnel attrition, and was punctuated with impressive improvements in manufacturing accuracy, production output, and world-class delivery performance.”
Dr. Breck Parker, Vice President of Product Development and a former coworker of Mr. Markin, added, “EnviroLogix was very fortunate to find a person with John’s professional accomplishments, prepared to make a career change from a very large company with a global reputation to a small one whose reputation for innovative technology development is growing in life science circles. His global expertise will play an exciting, integral role in our future growth strategy, and we look forward to a long and productive relationship with him.”
EnviroLogix, based in Portland, Maine, has been developing and distributing high quality diagnostic tools to worldwide agricultural science, grain commodity and environmental industries since 1996.
