Templeton, Iowa, USA

Mike Merchant of Garrison, Iowa, has joined Renze Seeds and will cover a territory in eastern Iowa as a district sales manager.
“We are proud to have Mike represent Renze Seeds,” remarked Dan Swalla, sales and marketing manager for the Templeton, Iowa, based company. “He brings agronomy and sales experience to his position and will work to expand the Renze Seeds brand in eastern Iowa.”
Merchant has over 20 years experience in the agronomy business, spending the majority of it with the F.S./Growmark organization. He earned a degree in ag management from Ellsworth Community College after growing up on a family farm near Vinton, Iowa.
Renze Seeds is a progressive company, according to Merchant, who says their alliance with Dow AgroSciences gives them additional resources. “Any time you work with a larger company like Dow, you have more resources for research and are able to put the best products out there for the customer,” Merchant explained. “And the people at Renze are just fantastic.”
Merchant will be working to introduce Renze Seeds in his territory, build a dealer network, and grow the presence of the company. His first day with the company was September 16.
When he’s not working, Merchant enjoys cooking as well as outdoor activities including boating and fishing. He has two children, a son at home and a daughter who has graduated from high school.
