New items at Seed Hawk's Farm Progress Show booth in Regina, Saskatchewan

Langbank, Saskatchewan, Canada
June 12, 2012

Seed Hawk will share three of its innovations with the agriculture industry at the Farm Progress Show in Regina, SK, Canada, June 20 to 22. Farmers will have the opportunity to see the enormous Model 1300 air tank, the compact 30 Series combination tank & toolbar, and the newly redesigned seed and fertilizer knife assemblies. The research and development team at Seed Hawk tested a 1300 bushel air tank this spring.

The unit is 52’ 3” long and has a dry weight of 34,393 lbs. The current configuration distributes the 1300 bushel capacity between one 300 bushel and two 480 bushel tanks with the option to add a 40 bushel tank. Further testing will take place in the spring of 2013, but the prototype will be on display at the Farm Progress Show.

The R&D department also has new seed and fertilizer knives in testing. Both new assemblies are composed of three parts: a knife, an air drop tube and a holder. The redesigned system allows each part to be replaced easily and independently of the others. The knife and air drop tube can each be removed by a one-punch roll pin system for quick, wrench-free replacement.

The seed knife itself is an investment-cast insert with a 2” carbide tip. The new designs have been developed with a focus on improved durability and ease of replacement.

Seed Hawk’s new 30 Series will make its North American debut at the show. The 30 Series brings Seed Hawk’s precise seed and fertilizer placement to farming operations of all sizes. It uses a 111 bushel onboard tank (split into 55 and 56 bushels tanks) on a 19’ 8” (6 m) or 26’ 3” (8 m) frame. The Seed Hawk 30 Series is available in 10” or 12” row spacings.

In addition to the latest in Seed Hawk parts and equipment, the booth will have the new SCT Savings Simulator™, which lets farmers see how much SCT will save on inputs in their fields.
