Heidelberg University selects DNASTAR genomics software

Madison, Wisconsin, USA
June 6, 2012

DNASTAR today announced that the Center for Molecular Biology of Heidelberg University (ZMBH) has chosen DNASTAR Lasergene Genomics Suite software as its traditional and next-generation sequence assembly and analysis software platform for its faculty, staff and students.

A spokesperson for the ZMBH said “We have had a Lasergene Core Suite network in place for many years. This new agreement accomplishes several objectives – it renews our commitment to Lasergene; it expands the products available to our scientists from solely traditional sequence analysis products to now also include next-gen sequence assembly and analysis genomics products; and it makes all of DNASTAR’s software available to all individuals associated with the Center for Molecular Biology on an unlimited basis. This expansion is critical to helping our researchers achieve their short- and long-term scientific objectives using software tools that we have come to know and trust.”

Tom Schwei, Vice President and General Manager of DNASTAR, stated, “This site license represents a natural extension of our relationship with Heidelberg University by providing access to DNASTAR tools to all faculty, staff and students in the Center for Molecular Biology. In addition, by including our next-gen sequence assembly and analysis software products in the arrangement, scientists and students affiliated with the Center will be able to handle virtually any data and analysis required, regardless of sequencing technology or project size, all on their desktop computers. We appreciate the trust placed in our tools and company by the University and we look forward to continuing to meet their sequence assembly and analysis software needs in the future.”

Financial terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.
