Le Gouvernement de la France a déposé, le 27 avril 2012, son instrument de ratification de l’Acte de 1991 de la Convention internationale pour la protection des obtentions végétales.

L’Union internationale pour la protection des obtentions végétales (UPOV) a pour objet de mettre en place et promouvoir un système efficace de protection des variétés végétales afin d’encourager l’obtention de variétés dans l’intérêt de tous.

La France, qui est déjà l’un des soixante-dix membres de l’UPOV, est le quarante-neuvième membre pour lequel l’Acte de 1991 de la Convention UPOV aura pris effet. L’Acte de 1991 entrera en vigueur à l’égard de la France un mois après le dépôt de son instrument de ratification, soit le 27 mai 2012.

Ratification of France of the 1991 Act of the International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants

The Government of France deposited its instrument of ratification of the 1991 Act of the International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants on April 27, 2012.

The purpose of the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) is to provide and promote an effective system of plant variety protection, with the aim of encouraging the development of new varieties of plants, for the benefit of society.

France, which is already one of the seventy members of UPOV, is the forty-ninth member to become bound by the 1991 Act of the UPOV Convention. The 1991 Act will enter into force for France on May 27, 2012, one month after the deposit of its instrument of ratification.
