FBSciences announces new CEO Dr. David N. Duncan

Memphis, Tennessee, USA
Jan. 19, 2011

FBSciences, Inc., an emerging global life sciences leader in agricultural innovation, is pleased to announce its new CEO, Dr. David N. Duncan. Before joining FBSciences, Dr. Duncan was CEO of Pasteuria Bioscience, where he led the company through its registration and commercial launch of a biological nematicide for use on turf grass; and, most recently completed an exclusive technology partnership with Syngenta. As CEO for Chlorogen, Dr. Duncan helped raise $10M in two series of financing for the early stage biopharmaceutical company. During his 22 years at Monsanto Company, he served in various leadership roles, including product development (US & Canada); marketing; government and regulatory affairs; and as both a commercial development and business unit executive.

“Dr. Duncan transforms companies,” says Heather Simmons, Chairman of the Board, FBSciences. “He is credited with helping transition Monsanto from a traditional agricultural chemical company into the world’s leading producer of agricultural biotechnology products. We are already seeing benefits as a result of him taking the helm.

“Dr. Duncan is uniquely qualified to help take FBSciences to the next level. In addition to being an industry insider and having a proven track record of building and launching new companies, he has significant experience in managing the marketing, manufacturing, and regulatory processes required to successfully commercialize innovative technologies.”

Dr. Duncan’s expertise will direct FBSciences as it strengthens its position as a life sciences company by launching a Plant Protection Division. This unit concentrates on the commercialization of seed treatments and crop protection products utilizing naturally occurring but proprietary technology. This technology has demonstrated an ability to improve plant health and productivity in a wide variety of agronomic and horticultural crops.

“Dr. Duncan shares FBSciences’ dedica¬tion to providing innovative, science-based solutions for achieving greater yields and higher quality crops through better nutrient efficiency and plant physiology,” Simmons says. “Dr. Duncan’s expertise in developing strategic partnerships in the US and around the world will allow us to increase existing sales domestically and internationally.

“FBSciences provides solid science and technology with unlimited potential. Our technology can be utilized to improve soil- or foliar-applied products, and to enhance seed treatment, helping farmers enhance their crop yield potential and quality. Dr. Duncan will help us empower farmers to achieve better results while streamlining and focusing our corporate business development. He’s steering the company onto the autobahn.”

Dr. Duncan received a B.S. degree in biology from Indiana State University and both an M.S. in agronomy/turf grass management and a Ph.D. in herbicide physiology from Michigan State University. He serves on the boards and committees of several organizations.

FBSciences is a life sciences company committed to helping farmers around the world achieve optimal plant health and crop performance through innovative, scientific principles. FBSciences is headquartered in Collierville, Tenn.
