NOVO-OGARYOVO (Moscow region), April 1 (RIA Novosti) Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin directed the Economic Development Ministry on Friday to submit a biotechnology program by mid-May.
"We need to accelerate the development of a special coordination program for the development of biotechnology in Russia," Putin said at a meeting of the government high technology and innovation commission.
Russia currently accounts for less than 0.2% of the global biotech market, Putin said.
"Our goal is to change this situation, to form conditions for the creation of a powerful bio-industry sector in Russia," he said.
