Take back rights-of-way with Restorix Regenerative Right-of-Way Management System - The program from Corteva Agriscience helps utilities and applicators reduce vegetation management expenses while supporting habitat and species biodiversity

Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
September 10, 2024

Corteva Agriscience introduces the RestorixSM Regenerative Right-of-Way Management System – a comprehensive program designed to help utilities achieve their vegetation  and land management goals while reducing expenses, reducing carbon emissions, and supporting habitat and species diversity.

The Restorix system works by combining the proven performance of Corteva Vegetation Management  products with prescriptive consultation and selective application methods.

“The Restorix system is more than just an Integrated Vegetation Management program,” says John Kalthoff, Vegetation Management Portfolio Marketing Lead, Corteva Agriscience. “The Restorix system is for those utilities and applicators who are working to reduce operational expenses, and who are deliberately moving toward specific environmental goals such as habitat restoration or creation.”

Putting the Restorix System Into Practice

Enrollment in the Restorix system requires a consultation and corresponding prescription from a Corteva vegetation management specialist, use of at least two Corteva selective herbicides along with appropriate application methods, use of an approved applicator, and adherence to prescribed application rates and timing.

“Use of the Restorix system can help utilities and applicators reduce overall vegetation management expenses through lower stem counts, decreased fuel consumption, and reduced equipment and labor requirements,” Kalthoff says. “Plus, the Restorix system can help re-establish the low-growing forbs and herbaceous plants that create natural barriers to woody plant development, further reducing long-term vegetation management demands.”

Along with the proven benefits of integrated vegetation management (IVM) and integrated habitat management, participating utilities and applicators can point to their use of the Restorix system as demonstration of their commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable operations.

“With the Restorix system, we can offer participating utilities the opportunity to reduce the frequency of mowing, cut carbon emissions, enhance biodiversity, restore pollinator, wildlife and soil life habitat, enhance erosion control, and beautify the landscape,” says Kalthoff. “And that’s in addition to the operational, fiscal, and reputational benefits a well-executed IVM strategy can provide.”
