Insightful information on the performance of crop varieties sown in 2010 is being provided to South Australian grain growers as they consider their seeding options for the coming season.
 
The SA Crop Harvest Report 2011 has been compiled by the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) and is sponsored by the South Australian Grain Industry Trust (SAGIT), in association with Primary Industry and Resources SA (PIRSA) and the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC). SARDI senior scientist Rob Wheeler says the report outlines which varieties performed best, with detailed yield and quality results for trials conducted by SARDI and the National Variety Trials (NVT) program, an initiative of the GRDC. Varieties of wheat, barley, canola, lupins, oats, chickpeas, lentils, peas, beans and triticale are assessed in the report, which also features a cereal variety diseases guide to assist growers in their disease management strategies.
