The International Conference on Pseudomonas syringae is a central scientific forum facilitating the exchange of cutting-edge advancements across various research domains concerning these pathogenic bacteria that significantly impact numerous economically important crops. Originating in 1973 in France, this conference has traversed multiple countries over the years and this 10th edition was back this year after in Porto, bringing together some sixty plant pathologists from all over the world, including a representative from BioGEVES.

It was an exceptional opportunity to meet the international scientific community and learn about the latest knowledge and advances relating to Pseudomonas syringae, to forge scientific networks and to foster collaborative partnerships.

GEVES presented one of its projects, involving the identification by qPCR of different species of Pseudomonas syringae isolated from cucurbit seeds and responsible particularly angular leaf spot in cucurbits and zucchini vein clearing disease. Through this project, led by the BioGEVES Detection Unit and the SNES pathology laboratory, GEVES is helping to fight against these cucurbit diseases by detecting these seed-borne pathogens.
