U.S. National Seed Health System proposes an updated fee structure to help meet its annual operating expenses

USA
May 2021

Source: ASTA

The National Seed Health System (NSHS) is proposing an updated fee structure to help meet its annual operating expenses. The NSHS was established in 2001, and current fees offset about 45 percent of its annual operating expenses. The shortfalls have been covered by the Iowa State University Seed Science Center and some external grant funding; however, the program is intended to be self-supporting for long-term sustainability.

The proposed fee structure is intended to meet NSHS annual operating expenses through accreditation fees. The NSHS plans to phase in the new fee structure over the next three years when/as accreditations renew, beginning in 2022. The proposal was recently sent to current NSHS-accredited entities for review and input.

For more information about this proposal, please contact Kelly Iverson, kiverson@iastate.edu or (515) 294-6493.
