Producers and others will have an opportunity to learn about hemp during Hettinger Hemp Day, which will be held June 10 at North Dakota State University’s Hettinger Research Extension Center (HREC).
The program will focus on hemp grain and fiber and include regional experts on hemp production, processing, marketing and regulation. A farmer-focused program will begin at 3 p.m. at the HREC and a community program, with a meal, will start at 5.30 p.m. at the Granary.
“There is continued interest and activity to grow the hemp grain and fiber business in the northern Plains,” says David Ripplinger, NDSU Extension bioproducts/bioenergy economist. “Hemp Day will provide an opportunity for farmers and others to learn more about the crop and its uses.”
Jasmin Fosheim, executive director of the Adams County Development Corporation, says the organization is thrilled to be hosting locals and visitors for this educational event as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture-funded feasibility study on industrial hemp production and manufacturing in the region.

Attending the program is free of charge, but attendees are asked to register by June 3 to ensure an accurate food count.
