International Seed Health Initiative (ISHI-Veg) meets virtually, bids farewell to Radha Ranganathan

Nyon, Switzerland
November 30, 2020

More than 80 members and observers participated in the annual meeting of the International Seed Health Initiative (ISHI-Veg), which was held virtually this year.

Updates were shared on the projects of the various International Technical Groups (ITGs) on Bean, Brassica, Pea and Radish; Tomato and Pepper; Roots, Bulbs, and Leafy Vegetables; and Cucurbits. The working groups on method validation and high-throughput screening (HTS) also presented reports on their plans and activities.

At the end of the three-day series of plenary sessions, the group organized a thoughtful farewell for Radha Ranganathan who has been a stalwart of ISHI and the Regulated Pest List Initiative (RPLI) for many years. The group presented Radha with a bouquet, a statue and a special edition magazine (pictured on the left).

Radha joined the association in 2002, the year that FIS and ASSINSEL merged to form what is now ISF. She will retire at the end of the year and will spend her time in Switzerland tending to her garden and weaving on her loom.
