The National Industrial Hemp Council (NIHC) along with the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) sent two letters today promoting the extension of the hemp pilot program.

The first letter was to Congressional appropriators asking for the extension of the hemp pilot program through fiscal year 2021 to be included in any supplemental appropriations legislation.

Secondly, NIHC and NASDA sent a letter to Secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture, Sonny Perdue asking for enforcement discretion for the upcoming October 31, 2020 deadline regarding hemp since not all states have transitioned from pilot programs to USDA approved plans under the agency’s interim final rule published October 31, 2019.
