A new World Record Soybean Yield was announced by the Missouri Soybean Association 100 Bushel Club today from Kip Cullers’ farm in Stark City, MO. Missouri Governor Jay Nixon was on hand to offer personal congratulations and to present the award to Cullers.
Kip Cullers has a history of record breaking yields, but this year’s 160.6 bu/acre record shattered his old record of 154 bu/acre, set in 2007. Culler’s intensive crop management program for his contest soybeans included StollerUSA products.
“95% of all the plant nutrients are in the top 4” of the soil. You’ve got to have a good root system,” explains Cullers. “The thing that helped us the most was by adding the Bio-Forge to our seed treatment. We picked up 5 to 7 bushels with that alone.”
Cullers added Stoller’s Bio-Forge® to his seed treatment to establish early seedling vigor and enhance root growth. This early and robust root development allowed the plants to endure the extreme stress conditions Cullers used to initiate plant branching. Subsequent foliar applications of Bio-Forge helped to boost the overall plant health and promote root development and nodulation for the entire growing season.
Cullers applied Stoller’s FRAME™ and Keylate® Manganese to help control the white mold. Conditions are perfect for white mold in Cullers’ contest field because of the heavy irrigation used to cool plants in the extremely hot southern Missouri growing conditions. FRAME and Keylate Manganese also worked to protect flower set, improve pod set and increase photosynthesis. Stoller’s Sugar Mover™ was used to move sugars and nutrients from the leaves to the grain to enhance pod fill. In addition Cullers used a new experimental Stoller product to increase branching expression and increase pod set and fill.
Cullers planted his contest plot on April 13, 2010. Soon after the plant emerged he was surprised to find branching and root nodulation at the unusually early unifoliate stage. There was no doubt the seed treatment had gotten his contest plot off to an early and impressive start. Vigorous early root growth, branching and early nodulation were quickly apparent. Other physical highlights included the large and uniform pods that were located up and down the multiple branches and an extended period of nodulation Root systems became so prolific they were difficult to dig up. Stalks were unusually large and robust—easily supporting the pod-laden plants.
“We’re already planning what we’re going to do differently next year” shared Cullers, “We are definitely going to be using Stoller products because they helped us.”
Bio-Forge is a yield-enhancing stress reducer for all crops. It reduces the negative effects of plant stress caused by drought, excessive moisture, frost, herbicide damage and other crop stressors. Proven to enhance productivity and overall yield, Bio-Forge may be applied as a seed treatment, in-furrow or as a foliar spray application.
StollerUSA is dedicated to helping producers enhance yields by maximizing genetic expression. The result is enhanced marketable yield, improved return-on-investment and improved tolerance to disease and other stress. Only Stoller products contain Stoller’s proprietary technology that is proven to ensure optimum plant growth by maintaining appropriate hormone balance in combination with supporting nutrients. Validated by Universities nationwide, Stoller’s unique formulations result in healthier, more productive crops that are better able to withstand stress and achieve their full genetic potential.
