Uganda’s Agricultural Leadership: East-West Seed at the Harvest Money Expo 2026

The Harvest Money Expo is a cornerstone of the Ugandan agricultural calendar. As a platform for the country’s top farmers and agribusinesses, the 2026 event showcased why Uganda is a primary driver of food production in the region.

Organized by Vision Group in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Expo provided a world-class platform for exchange. East-West Seed Uganda was proud to contribute to this vibrant gathering of local expertise and international partnership.

Collaboration at the Netherlands Village

Invited by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, we joined the Netherlands Village. This space brought together Dutch-affiliated businesses and Uganda’s leading farmers to share technology and strategies. It was an excellent opportunity to align global innovation with deep-rooted local knowledge.

Elevating the “Undervalued” Pumpkin

A major highlight of our display was the visibility of our pumpkin varieties. While the pumpkin is often an undervalued crop in many markets, it holds a place of high importance at East-West Seed.

In line with the vision of Simon Groot, our founder, we believe that pumpkin crops have the potential to transform a farmer’s livelihood. We used the Expo to bring much-needed attention to the pumpkin, showcasing it as a centerpiece for discussions on:

  • Nutritional and Economic Value: Highlighting how quality pumpkin seeds can provide both food security and a reliable income.

  • Technical Exchange: Discussing sustainable methods to increase productivity and crop quality.

  • Networking: Engaging with smallholder farmers to strengthen the local vegetable value chain.

Putting Quality Seeds in Farmers’ Hands

Our focus at the Expo was to support the work of Ugandan growers by providing the best tools available:

  • Selected Vegetable Varieties: Showcasing seeds specifically developed to perform in local conditions.

  • Technical Exchange: Discussing sustainable farming methods and new ways to increase farm productivity.

  • Networking: Engaging with smallholder farmers and stakeholders to strengthen the local vegetable value chain.

A Future Built on Partnership

The success of the Expo reflects the strength of Uganda’s farming community. By connecting high-quality seeds with the skill of local farmers, we are working together to ensure a productive and food-secure future.

We thank the Netherlands Embassy for the invitation and look forward to building on the connections made during this year’s Expo.
