Sakata Seed showcased half an acre of trials and commercial vegetable varieties at the KALRO Expo in Thika, Kenya

Mar 19, 2025

On March 13th & 14th, Sakata Seed showcased half an acre of trials and commercial vegetable varieties at the KALRO Expo, drawing hundreds of farmers from across Kenya. Attendees included students, local administrators, and professionals from the agri-inputs industry.

The display was a stunning example of what can be achieved on less than half an acre using drip irrigation. Crops such as butternuts, watermelons, cabbages, tomatoes, chillies, and peppers were featured, with a strong focus on high-yielding and resilient varieties.

The chilli trials and Buena Vista F1 tomatoes were standout attractions, impressing visitors with their high yield and uniformity. Butternuts showcased exceptional yield as well, while Powerslam F1 cabbages drew significant interest for their density, uniformity, and resistance to black rot, making them ideal for long-distance transportation.

Sakata’s impressive display earned the Best Display award, capturing media attention throughout the event. Congratulations to James Opere for leading the Sakata stand and to the entire team behind this success!
