We are pleased to announce that Jeff Mills will be joining the VoloAgri team at the end of August as Breeding Director and Watermelon Breeder, based in Woodland, CA. Jeff will bring a wealth of experience to our growing Open Field research and development team. Jeff has worked in the vegetable industry for 20 years, the majority of his career at Monsanto/Bayer, as a melon breeder and Science Fellow where he developed and launched a series of successful cantaloupe and honeydew hybrids. Today, these varieties are sold in North, Central and South America. More recently he served as the Breeding Lead at GreenVenus where he oversaw breeding programs in hemp & lettuce and managed a team of breeding and cell biology staff. Throughout his career Jeff has developed innovative strategies for genetic gains, increased the pace of product development, and developed novel traits and markets. Jeff is excited about marrying traditional plant breeding techniques with technology to accelerate the development of varieties that benefit growers and consumers.
VoloAgri has been growing steadily over the last decade with proprietary breeding programs in tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, melons, and watermelons. With breeding locations in Holland, US, Mexico, and Spain we market our varieties under two major brands, Axia® for the high-tech protected culture and US Agriseeds® for the open field markets.
