FBSciences announces new plant protection division

Memphiis, Tennessee, USA
November 9, 2010

FBSciences, Inc., an emerging global leader in agricultural innovation, has strengthened its position as a life sciences company by launching a new Plant Protection Division to advance the development of seed treatments and crop protection products with its proprietary plant growth regulator technology.

“The formation of our Plant Protection Division strategically enables us to explore and develop new technology dedicated to improving plant health and crop productivity,” says FBSciences CEO Peter Stromberg. “We see this as an important step in building our global position in life sciences.”

The Plant Protection Division will concentrate on the commercialization of products utilizing proprietary, naturally-occurring Plant Growth Regulator (PGR) technology. The PGR technology has demonstrated an ability to influence genetic responses which improve plant health and productivity in a wide variety of agronomic and horticultural crops. FBSciences anticipates registration of this innovative, new PGR technology by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the second quarter of 2011. The EPA has already assigned the PGR technology a new class of biopesticide chemistry.

“This dynamic, new technology has far-reaching potential as a mainstream product, even as new technologies and management practices are integrated into crop production systems,” says Brian Goodwin, president of FBSciences. “We believe our new Plant Protection Division and the PGR technology it’s developing can play a key role in supporting farmers in their efforts to meet an increased worldwide demand for food.”

The Duff Company of Kansas City, Mo., has been contracted to assist in the development and management of the new Plant Protection Division for FBSciences, and Jerry Duff will assist FBSciences in this capacity. Duff, who has 35 years of agricultural marketing experience, will assist in the development of the division’s seed treatment and crop protection products in the United States and around the world.

FBSciences is a life sciences company committed to helping farmers around the world achieve optimal plant health and crop performance through innovative, scientific principles. FBSciences is headquartered in Collierville, Tennessee.
