Ireland
April 30, 2020

  • Profitability
  • #1 Yielder
  • Good Disease Package
  • Straw Strength
  • Graham winter wheat has it all

Winter wheat continues to be the most profitable cereal crop on arable farms (Teagasc Profit Monitor reports 2016-2018) and despite the poor weather last back-end, the majority of wheat crops show good promise.

GRAHAM winter wheat has been the number 1 performer in the DAFM trials over the past few seasons has caught the imagination of growers and the trade alike as it is now the most popular winter wheat variety in Ireland.

In this brief update, Tim O Donovan gives his views on GRAHAM and the attributes that make it an ideal choice for autumn drilling in 2020 such as its good overall disease and straw strength package and its steady growth in the spring.

We also take a look at the timing of the fungicide program using a very visual aide to see why we should delay the first fungicide until the 3rd last leaf has emerged.
