Verdant Partners LLC is pleased to announce that Anthony (Tony) D. Padgett has joined Verdant as a Director effective September 1, 2010. Mr. Padgett will focus his efforts on developing and executing business relationships with clients in Asia and other international locations.
During his career, Mr. Padgett has established agricultural companies and operations throughout Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and South America. Mr. Padgett has lived and worked in France, Spain, Singapore, and the Middle East. He holds a Juris Doctorate from the New York University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in International Politics from Denison University in Ohio.
In 2005, Mr. Padgett co-founded Torch Hill Capital, a private equity business based in New York City and Washington, D.C. He also was founding partner in Twenty-Two North, LLC, a management consulting and business brokerage company in agribusiness.
While with Monsanto Company in the 1990's, Mr. Padgett served in Lyon, France as Managing Director of Monsanto's global seed business outside the U.S. and Canada. He also served Monsanto as the Director of Business Development for the Asia Pacific region and was based in Singapore. Before Monsanto, Mr. Padgett was the Managing Director of Sunseeds Europe in France with general management responsibility for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa and also helped establish Sunseeds companies in South America and Asia.
From 1982 to 1993, Mr. Padgett practiced law with a specialty in international transactions and trade law. He was a full equity partner with Thelen, Marrin, Johnson, and Bridges in their Washington, D.C. office. He remains a member of the New York and District of Columbia Bar.
