Naktuinbouw introduces new RT-PCR tests for export seeds

The Netherlands
October 27, 2021

We introduce the new Taqman PCRs to detect the presence or absence of ArMV, TRV and TSV in tomato, pepper, onion and beet seeds. To support the sector, Naktuinbouw Laboratories continues to develop new tests. These tests can support the export of seeds by reliably indicate the presence or absence of pathogens in seed by using the Seed-Extract PCR.

The (real-time) RT-PCR is a technique for rapidly amplifying RNA

This is done with the help of pathogen-specific building blocks. The amplification in RNA can be monitored digitally at any time. This makes it possible to confirm quicker and with more certainty whether the pathogen is present or absence.

New tests for seeds of various crops

  • ArMV or TRV or TSV in tomato, pepper, onion or beet seeds
    • Sample: 3,000 untreated seeds
    • Basic test rate: € 185,00
    • Duration basic test: 4 days

* For basic fees, see the 2021 price list
