Introducing your new Recommended List

The new edition of the Recommended Lists for cereals and oilseeds (RL) 2025/26 is available to download. It includes several eye-catching additions with wide appeal and new varieties that target regional and niche situations.

Winter wheat
10 new varieties, split across all end-use groups (1 to 4), including a provisional UKFM Group 1 variety and a UKFM Group 2 variety with a specific recommendation for Barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) resistance. Six varieties removed.

Spring wheat

Four new varieties: a UKFM Group 1, a UKFM Group 2 and two Group 4s. Two varieties removed.

Winter barley

14 new varieties (two-row and six-row varieties), including five new varieties with a specific recommendation for BYDV resistance or tolerance. Eight varieties removed.

Spring barley

Five new varieties: four under evaluation for brewing and malt distilling, and one feed variety. The list also includes disease ratings for net blotch for the first time. One variety removed.

Oats

One new husked spring oat variety. One and two varieties removed from the from the spring and winter lists, respectively.

Winter oilseed rape

Eight new varieties (most with a regional recommendation): one conventional variety and seven hybrids (including two with a specific recommendation for clubroot resistance).

  • Spring oilseed rape: one on, three off
  • Spring linseed: four on, three off
  • Winter triticale: none on, two off
  • Winter rye: four on, two off
