On 21 November, the General Director of Food set up the Plenary Committee of the CTPS for the period 2024-2029, and asked for the Committee’s opinion on the appointment of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman and General Secretary.
After sharing the results of the previous term of office and reaffirming the relevance of the topics covered by the Seeds and Plants for Sustainable Agriculture SPAD 2 plan published by the Minister in 2021, the meeting agreed that this term of office would continue under the banner of the operational implementation of the dynamics initiated recently. Innovations in variety evaluation methods are particularly expected (continuing the regular development of observed criteria, but also functional integration of phenotyping and genotyping tools).
The report of the CTPS Scientific Committee on “Adaptation to climate change and varietal evaluation” in response to a request from the Chairman of the Plenary Committee was presented. The members of the Plenary Committee welcomed the work presented, and urged the CTPS Sections to take action to implement the recommendations made.
Finally, the members of the CTPS Plenary Committee were informed of the latest regulatory developments concerning the proposed NGT (new genome editing techniques) and PRM (plant reproductive material) regulations.
