I enjoy
observing a species in its native habitat. Seeing it in
context gives me a feeling of completeness about the plant; it
is like going to someone’s house. It says a lot about a
person, how they live, what is important to them.
I
also find great satisfaction when my company has successfully
brought a new species to market. This requires studying the
plant, learning about it.
When, where and how it grows;
investigating how it is pollinated; when it makes seed; what
are the seeds like; figuring out how to harvest the seed. It’s
like detective work, but it’s all driven by an appreciation of
the plant’s unique qualities and what it can offer us.
I enjoy knowing that planting
wildflowers has enriched lives, enhanced a landscape and
brought people closer to nature.
