Customer’s
needs are as diverse as their intended uses. Broadly,
wildflower seeds are used for beautification or restoration
(or both). Homeowners, commercial landscapers, public and
governmental agencies, highway
departments, private
landowners, to name a few, sow seed for beautification and
require products that grow and bloom relatively quickly
(within the first season, preferably within 2-3 months). These
customers value affordability, while longevity of the planting
(more than 2 years) is less important.
For restoration projects, however,
customers want long-term results. They are willing to invest
more in up-front seed costs and in establishment and ongoing
maintenance costs for a period of time in order to create a
planting that will eventually approach the homeostasis of a
natural environment.
