The updated AHDB Variety Selection Tool gives growers location-based information on AHDB Recommended List varieties, allowing them to plan for their specific situation.
The Variety Selection Tool was launched in 2015 in response to AHDB surveys, which showed growers wanted more information on regional variety performance. This year’s data is now live.

Winter Wheat
Winter Barley
The interactive tool helps growers to navigate the latest variety trials data and make comparisons, based on location-specific information, enabling them to identify the most promising varieties for their unique situations.
This year, the tool features winter wheat and winter barley trials data. An online dashboard gives the option to explore what impact different parameters have on yields.
The tool plots geographical location, rotational position, soil type or sowing date, visualising trials data in chart format for easy variety comparison.
Districts are based on UK regional climates, as defined by the Met Office, which describe the general climate in that area.
The Variety Selection Tool sits alongside AHDB Cereals & Oilseeds' regional disease and weather monitoring tools at cereals.ahdb.org.uk/monitoring

Providing summary information on varieties from the AHDB Recommended List trials, the pocketbook format is particularly useful for taking to summer variety trials.
These are available to order via AHDB Cereals & Oilseeds/publications or to pick up from a range of summer events, including Cereals 2016.
