If you have grown or attempted to grow brassicas in the past year, you will be able to attest to the fact that the production of broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage is not an easy task. This season has been a particularly challenging one, with all the temperature fluctuations and pest pressure taken into account. Selecting the right varieties that are more suitable to our changing climatic conditions has become one of the most important factors for a successful crop.
On these photos, you can see Sakata’s F1 hybrid cauliflower NAIROBI* and F1 hybrid broccoli TRITON from PJ Kruger Boerdery in Brits, North West, SA.
The large frame and tight wrap of Nairobi* resulted in beautiful white curds, even through the cold fronts and heat waves that this specific crop faced. We know Triton as being one of the most adaptable broccolis, and this has been proven yet again.
Well done, Debrijn, on producing this impressive crop. Your diligent efforts combined with the right varieties definitely resulted in a beautiful crop!
