About DELEPLANQUE

Deleplanque is an international seed group specialising in the selection, production and distribution of agricultural seeds. Deleplanque is the initiator and leader of the Modefy research project on the creation of varieties tolerant to viral yellows of sugar beet.
In order to supervise the development of this selction station based in Estrées-Saint-Denis, in the Oise (60), Deleplanque is looking for an Experimentation Research Station Manager.

Job description :

Integrated into one of our research stations based near Compiègne (60), the Junior Breeder participates in the selection and creation of sugar beet varieties. He/she is also responsible of the station and in charge of the implementation and deployment of the research project of varieties tolerant to the jaundice virus in France.

Main missions :

• Responsible for part of the genetic resources within our sugar beet breeding program.
• Introgression of new traits in sugar beet phenotyping.
• Evaluation of genotypes in international field trials.
• Analysis of phenotypic data from fields and greenhouses for selection.
• Interpretation and use of molecular marker results for selection.
• Search for new genetic resources in the literature and gene banks.
• Scientific support for research projects in collaboration with several public bodies.
• Frequent trips to France (sugar beet area) and Germany.
• Management of the site selection team in Estrées St Denis
• Coordination and planning of the day-to-day work in cooperation with the german selection division
• Regular reporting to the sugar beet breeding team in Germany.
• Many trips are to be expected in France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Research profil :

• Graduate of a Ph.D. with a specialization in plant or animal breeding, quantitative génétics, agriculture and/or related fields.
• First job after Ph.D.
• Sensitized to the use of molecular markers for marker-assisted selection.
• Ability to work accurately both in the office and in the field.
• Ability to adapt to seasonal fluctuations related to the agricultural sector.
• Familiar with the use of MS Office applications and interest of learning new software.
• Team player and excellent communication skills.
• Farm driving
• German desired or strong desire to learn the language. English is essential.
