We are looking for a Principal Specialist, Product Development - Carrots to join our Agricultural Solutions team supporting our BASF | Nunhems Vegetable Seed business. This is a field-based role and the ideal candidate should be located in Southern California.

As a Principal Specialist in Product Development - Carrots, you will lead the development of new products and their inclusion in the regional portfolio, including seed varieties, seed forms, and new technologies. You will consult with the Regional Crop Lead and sales team with technical knowledge and marketing positioning.

 

As a Principal Specialist, Product Development - Carrots, you create chemistry by...

  • Designing, coordinating, and executing regional trial programs.
  • Analyzing and processing data from the trial programs.
  • Presenting and discussing conclusions and new seed technology products with the Crop Team.
  • Providing technical support to sales specialists, account managers, and customers through advice and training on specific crops.
  • Informing the breeding team about market needs to prioritize the assortment by market segment and type.
  • Preparing, coordinating, and executing all procedures in the Elevation varieties process, from screening to trial, and advising the Crop Sales Manager and Global Product Specialists on the seed production plan.
     

If you...

  • Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in agriculture, plant science, or other relevant field of study.
  • Possess at least three years of experience in agriculture and in the development of varieties (trials).
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills, be highly organized, and exhibit good decision-making abilities.
  • Work effectively as a team player with strong communication skills.
  • Exhibit commercial aptitude and an innovative mindset.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Are able to regularly travel during the day and travel 20-30% overnight, domestically and internationally.

Pay transparency

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $96,000 - $132,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
