Local Product Promoter, Southeast U.S.

Location: Florida, USA

EarthWork Seeds™ is a business unit of Gowan Group based in Yuma, AZ, a family-owned company that has been established for over 50 years. We specialize in the breeding, production, and sales of high quality vegetable seeds. We are headquartered in Davis, CA, a central hub of the vegetable seed industry.

Our team of breeder scientists focus their research on improving quality, yield, disease resistance and adaptability for domestic and export markets. We are working on a wide range of crops with a key focus on solanaceous and cucurbit. We have a global network of distributor partners covering the main vegetable seeds markets.

At EarthWork, we are working to build a passionate and collaborative team that provides leading genetic to growers. We are currently seeking a Local Product Promotor, located in Florida, USA. The position will report to EarthWork Seeds General Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the changing market trends and grower needs for EWS East USA strategic crops: Melon, Tomatoes, Pepper, Beans, Watermelon
  • Maintain a high-level knowledge of competitors’ key commercial & pre-commercial varieties
  • Translate the Regional Trial Plan into detailed territory and seasonal plans & allocate trial seeds accordingly
  • Set up and evaluate key trials with key producers (direct) and organize trials with retailers
  • Collect trial results and data and consolidate into Trial Reports for research and sales department
  • Refine the product positioning for launching varieties and define the key buying factors
  • Input variety forecasts for three years forward and be part of S&OP & product advancement process
  • Give technical support to key producers, leverage technical knowledge to the retailers teams and provide after sales support o Plan and execute promotional field events with dealers and key growers
  • Set up and host field days with EarthWork colleagues and distributor partners exhibiting our latest genetics on grower fields

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or Horticulture, or equivalent field experience
  • 5+ years of experience in the Vegetable Seed industry is highly preferred
  • Ability to implement new market and business development plans to achieve profitable growth
  • Trial set up, planting and evaluation experience
  • Knowledge of our East Strategic crops a plus (Melon, Tomatoes, Pepper, Beans, Watermelon)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive work relationships with associates, dealers, grower customers and related industry personnel.
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis throughout the assigned territory, and to company/industry meetings as required
  • Position requires up to 70% field travel within assigned territory
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
