Global Production Strategy Manager Biennials (2200636) – Parma, ID
Where the Chemistry Happens…
This position is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the global production strategy for the biennials crops.
The strategy will ensure the reliable and consistent delivery of seed at the agreed quantities, level of quality, in the specified time frame and at a cost reflective of an efficient production process. This position is expected to work in close collaboration with the regional Production teams to globally prioritize and coordinate the execution of the Global Production Strategy.

Formula for Success: You will…
Develop and implement a Global Production Strategy
- Provide an annually updated strategic plan (5 years outlook) to secure long term availability of locations and capacity in order to ensure the right volumes, quality seed at cost in line to meet the sales and margin targets.
- Establish the prioritization of Operations Technology (OTEC) & Production development projects for crop cluster
- Member of the Operations tactical team representing biennials, interacting with R&D, Marketing & Sales and Finance to provide input to the Strategic Crop team for the development of the Global Biennials Strategy
Production Plan Execution & Monitoring
- In alignment with supply chain and sales, participate in the elaboration of the global production plan and decide on the production spread (volumes, locations), following the strategic guideline.
- Approve the appropriate stock seed levels to ensure realization of the commercial seed productions to meet the sales demand.
- Decide on the production locations both for stock seed and commercial seed worldwide, to establish a desired optimum mix between reliability, quality and costs.
- Establish and maintain a production location database to ensure an adequate diversification and risk management.
Global Production guidelines and information sharing
- Establish global standard operating procedures for crop management for biennial seed production and support Regional Production teams with the execution of these protocols
- Manage evaluations of seed production potential (produce-ability) for developing trial varieties to support variety elevation into the commercial portfolio.
- Steer and monitor the implementation strategy and the approval of the operational production plans with the GPS.
- Key participant and driver of production development focused on cross-crop, cross-regions mid- and long-term technologies.
Meeting Production Quality standards
- Responsible for reviewing the final product to meet quality assurance standards.
- Challenges the advice of the quality assurance department whether to accept and/or reject lots regardless of if produced via 3rd parties, growers or own farmed; both stock seed and commercial seed to minimize loss of profitability and maintain supplier relationships.
- Challenge quality and genetic purity in foundation seed (delivered by the breeding department) ensuring a reliable high quality stock seed and consequently commercial seed production.
Partner with Operations Technology-Agronomy
- Provide consultation and input towards seed production research projects to ensure the reliability and quality of yield.
Monitor & Analyze Crop production information in IT systems
- Monitor and analyze crop production information in IT systems to ensure accurate information is disseminated to other departments locally and globally.
Monthly Production Reporting
- Through continuous communication and providing monthly reporting, keep the Global Head of Production and the Global Operations Crop Lead informed on ongoing departmental activities and work in progress and advice on alternatives in order to maintain efficiency.
Budgetary responsibility
- Advice the Global Head of Production & Regional Heads on CAPEX, OPEX and HC for all relevant areas
- Keeps track of production spend and ensures it is in line with the budget and production plans

Ingredients for Success
- Master’s degree in Agronomy or related field, or bachelor’s degree with 10+ years’ of direct experience in vegetable seed production
- Understands production research practices and field plot techniques
- Has a balanced approach to company and Grower/3rd-party demands
- Experience working in a matrix organization
- Experience in project management either as a Sponsor or Project Lead
- People Management experience 3+ years
- Written and verbal fluency in English
