QC Seed Health Technical Expert

POSITION SUMMARY
To develop/optimize, implement and conduct seed health protocols for detection of seed borne/transmitted pathogens.
Lead position to develop new and optimize existing seed health assays for detection seed borne/transmitted pathogens. Coordinate protocol development with seed health research team within the BU and interface with industry and academic researchers. Train staff to perform the newly developed seed health assays.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.
- Accountable for research and development of new assays to detect seed borne/ transmitted pathogen utilizing the latest technologies while coordinating with the seed health research team.
- Responsible for optimizing new seed health assays in routine and training technicians as needed.
- Responsible for improving existing method performance, through process improvement or technologies to increase efficiency and reliability.
- Collaborate with scientist from within and other business units of Limagrain Vegetable Seeds on strategic test development aligning with the global seed health priorities.
- Collaborate with industry and academia for method development and validation; lead certain projects.
- Assist in implementation and maintenance of quality management system through accreditations.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Job requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences (Phytopathology) and/or 3-5 years of related experience is required.
- M.S. Degree in Plant Pathology or one of the plant sciences preferred.
- Experience in laboratory testing, proficiency in Microsoft applications, including advanced Excel. Proficiency in data summary and reporting. Experimental design and data analysis. Strong working understanding of latest molecular marker techniques and new technologies.
- Fluent in English.
