Quality Control Manager Emergence / Varietal Purity

To further develop and grow this ambition we are looking for a Quality Control Manager Emergence / VPY for the Americas region.

YOUR JOB

As Quality Control (QC) Manager Emergence and Varietal Purity, you will plan, organize and direct all functions of the QC sub-departments Emergence and Variety Purity for all pre-commercial and commercial inventories with a focus on high quality and on time testing. You will ensure the management of business related activities within the subdepartment including managing capital investments, solving ad hoc business activities, managing data in business systems, executing audit findings, managing contact with site services, and executing process management quality management system. You will be responsible for managing 8 to 10 direct reports including coaching team members, solving ad hoc activities with individuals, coordinating trainings, executing merit budgets and Short-Term Incentives, maintaining skill and competency matrices, and participating in safety programs.

Major Accountabilities

  1. Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all departmental workers and ensure corporate and regulatory compliance.
  2. Establish, implement, and communicate QC policies and procedures. Provide clear direction of departmental activities to ensure crop standards.
  3. Maintain and update protocols, work instructions, annexes, and training programs in accordance with quality assurance and accrediting guidelines to ensure global consistency to meet and maintain accreditation.
  4. Complete all emergence and varietal purity QC testing on time and with the right level of quality to fulfill quality in the chain requirements.
  5. Direct accountability for the precise and accurate execution QC testing techniques and processes. 
  6. Establish contacts with third party testing laboratories and facilitate a global approach to external testing.
  7. Ensure the availability of adequate resources including facilities, equipment, and personnel to accommodate reliable, effective, and efficient QC operations
  8. Monitor regional expense budgets to ensure an effective and efficient operations. Coordinate capital expenditures and maintain equipment in a fully operable and predictable manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural or life sciences related field.
  • Work experience: At least five years of experience in seed industry or quality control lab.  Three years of experience in a lab supervisory position.
  • Language skills: English language
  • IT: Microsoft Office applications and Document Applications
