Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
Develops and implements new market / business development plans, which will meet business goals of providing the best varieties possible for customers, as well as expanding customer base in the sales area. Works with the support team for the achievement of customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term account goals in line with company vision and values. Evaluate new products with an effective trialing program to identify products to be recommended for advancement to meet the needs of the target market. The amount of time spent on sales vs. product development functions will vary based on the location of the TSR, business strategy and market requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Initiates and maintains routine contact with present and potential customers on routine matters, through sales calls and associated travel. Expected overnight travel 30-40%.
  • Partner with Local Product Development Representative to build a cohesive and unified regional team
  • Develops and implements sales action plans to achieve annual sales and margin budgets.
  • With guidance from other HM Clause associates, provides a high level of service and product information to customers.
  • Recommends specific varieties to meet the needs of the customer.
  • Review sales forecasts monthly.
  • Maintains a high level of communication with the customers and the HM Clause associates, acting as the liaison between these groups.
  • Support the development and implementation of annual trial plans to identify new varieties that will meet customer needs.
  • Develops required product performance trial data through trials to determine features and benefits of new products and makes recommendations to the Product Development Manager regarding new products to be advanced into the commercial product line.
  • Participates in trade shows and field days preparation and participation, along with related activities in a professional manner.
  • Participates in the resolution of product performance issues with the customers in conjunction with Region Mgr.
  • Monitors market trends and identify new varieties that will allow Harris Moran to capitalize on the growth opportunities.
  • Maintains a high level of knowledge regarding the competitor's key products.
  • Maintains a high level of communications with Region Manager and associates and completes detailed monthly Sales and Product Development reports communicating the key market, customer, sales, product and competitive trends within territory.
  • Using the evaluation forms, submits trial evaluations based on established milestones after trial conclusion.
  • Manages expenses within the annual budget for the territory. Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays in the program schedules and may result in the allocation of additional resources.

Profile

Education and/or Experience

  • Requires a minimum of a B.S. in Agronomy or Horticulture, or equivalent field.
  • At least two years of experience in the Vegetable Seed Industry, or Vegetable Production.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
