GenTech Seeds is an exclusive producer distributor of Pioneer® brand products in Australia. The Company works closely with Australian farmers to develop hybrid seed products for local environments. In Australia GenTech Seeds sells seed of hybrid corn, grain and forage sorghum and canola. History Genetic Technologies Limited was founded in NZ in 1986 and has been delivering maize research developments to New Zealand industry and growers. A Philip Yates Family Holdings (PYFH) business, has its sole purpose to represent the Pioneer Seeds brand in NZ. In May 2016 DuPont Pioneer announced an agreement for PYFH to acquire its Pioneer Australia Seeds entity. The newly formed business of GenTech Seeds Pty Ltd is the exclusive producer and distributor of Pioneer® products in Australia selling Pioneer® brand hybrid corn, sorghum, summer forage and canola seeds, and silage inoculant products in Australia.
Currently to support business growth, GenTech Seeds is now looking to grow and extend its research and agronomy program. A new team is being established in the business dedicated to this function. This will provide additional capability around field research testing and data collection, focussing on providing an enhanced offering to customers.
The Role
There is now the requirement for a National Breeding, Research & Agronomy Services Manager to head up the plant breeding and research field team, based in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. This senior role will form part of the Executive team, reporting directly to the CEO and managing a team of breeders, field research technicians and a production manager. The role is responsible for taking charge of the entire platform, setting and executing the strategic direction for the research and agronomy services team. This involves ensuring a strong pipeline of commercial products and providing expert technical advice to achieve maximum sales performance and profitability. There is national and international travel in the role.
The person
You will ideally have:
- a degree in agriculture, business or equivalent
- significant experience and understanding of field crop breeding and research
- high level business acumen skills and a track record in developing successful teams
You will be strategic with significant commercial experience, skilled in product positioning and familiar with change management.
A seed breeding background would be beneficial but not essential.
Come and lead development of the research and agronomy services team, laying the platform for future development and growth of hybrid seed products within this small, flexible and innovative organisation.
