ASTEC, Inc. began in Sheridan, Wyoming in 1997 as a service provider, primarily to the sugar beet seed industry. Astec has since then expanded into processing other crop and vegetable seeds. We continue to provide the highest level of quality to our customers through continuous research and product development throughout the seed industry.

ASTEC provides:

PELLETING

Enclosing your seed in a round sphere, for maximum plantability and providing an ideal platform for protectants and coatings.

ENCRUSTING

A lesser build up than a traditional pellet, allowing seed shape to persist while improving plantability.

COATING

Our extensive knowledge and access to polymers and coating systems guarantees the best coating for your seed or seed pellet.

STEEPING

A program of washing inhibitors and pathogens; increases germination in percentage and uniformity.

PRIMING

A program of "pre-germination" of your seeds for maximum emergence speed in the field.

MEGASYSTEM

A pellet system designed for optimal oxygen/water exchange for your seed, providing the best possible micro-environment for your most sensitive seed.

New technologies:

THE PROTECTOR

A pellet system designed to protect your seed from its protector(s) - those pesticides that, while effective against threats in the field, also have phytotoxic effects if seed contact is too intimate. Originally developed to allow high levels of Tachigaren™ (hymexyzol) on sugar beet seed pellets, Protector has also shown advantages on other crops and with other chemicals. For example, in a Protector trial, a cocktail of six different fungicides and insecticides on cabbage seeds had no effect on germination.

MarQ Tagging

An identity preservation system for your seeds - apparent only to you - to protect your seed investment. A range of coatings and detector choices can give a visual or audible signal to tell you that the seed is yours - or not!

Q2 Analysis

A revolutionary breakthrough in seed quality testing - imagine a germination quality resutl on your seed in hours instead of days! the Q2 measures seed respiration over a perod of hours - telling you if the seed is dead, dormant, or actively growing.
Available only through the ASTEC Group.
