Wildflowers are
used widely in developed countries that have the resources,
especially the time and money, for beautification and
maintenance of the natural environment. Less developed
societies tend to focus on food, housing and survival.
Highly populated regions in developed countries are more
conscious of wildflowers because they are aware of the loss of
natural habitat. Therefore, they try harder to incorporate
wildflowers into their surroundings.
In addition, people living in cooler, more temperate
climates are more interested in growing and cultivating
flowers of all kinds. In tropical and subtropical areas, where
every thing grows easily, there is less interest in
wildflowers.
The United States, in general, shows more interest in
wildflowers than Europe, partly because there is still more
undeveloped land on which to recreate the native ecosystem.
