Pioneer Forage Forum audio program available on Pioneer.com - Current industry challenges, nutritional information highlighted

.

Des Moines, Iowa
May 27, 2009

Pioneer Forage Forum, the first dairy- and nutrition-related audio program for livestock producers, is moving Web site locations. The three-year-old program from Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business, is making the move from Pioneer GrowingPoint® website to www.pioneer.com/forages for all growers and producers to utilize.
Segments include information regarding forage management practices for boosting nutritional value and feedout techniques for optimum production.

"Pioneer has an extensive team of experts who specialize in harvest and feeding management, dairy and nutritional sciences, and forage and silage trait development" says Robin Newell, Pioneer senior marketing manager. "Pioneer strives to share that wealth of knowledge with livestock producers and growers. Moving the audio segments from our customer site, GrowingPoint, to Pioneer's main site will allow all visitors to listen."
The spring segments included topics regarding the turn in dairy prices with information on becoming more efficient to potentially boost producers' bottom lines, alfalfa traits, planting and management, and corn silage hybrid selection.

Future segments include timely topics such as the impact of growing conditions on nutritional value of corn silage, bunker set up and management, silage chop height, measuring feed quality performance and others. These segments will draw on dairy feed studies at the Pioneer Livestock Nutrition Center, as well as trials with university cooperators.

"No other seed company has the range and depth in forage research and nutritional information," says Newell. "Pioneer has a forage technical support network that includes 18 full-time ruminant nutrition, veterinary and microbial forage additive experts. These specialists interact with dairy, beef and forage producers on a daily basis throughout North America. Pioneer researchers conduct corn silage hybrid testing and product development at 15 research stations in the Northern Hemisphere.

Segments are posted to www.pioneer.com/forages with new installments posted every two weeks. Pioneer Forage Forum segments are presented as audio files, each approximately three to five minutes long. The audio also can be accessed at www.worlddairydiary.com. Both sites also archive previous Pioneer Forage Forum segments, covering subjects related to silage harvesting and processing, crop value, and analysis and planning.
