Syngenta's Resistance Fighter website offers solutions to glyphosate resistance issues

By 2013, one in four growers will have glyphosate-resistant weeds, covering nearly 38 million acres in the U.S. To provide more options for growers who will need to manage this increasingly growing problem, Syngenta has updated resistancefighter.com. The revamped site contains a more comprehensive Resistance Fighter™ Solution Builder, wide-ranging resources, expert news and views, and more tools.

“Glyphosate weed resistance isn’t going away and brings real and difficult challenges for producers—robbing yields and making herbicide programs more complicated,” said Chuck Foresman, manager of weed resistance strategies for Syngenta. “We’ve recently heard retailers and consultants saying they expect to manage every acre for glyphosate-resistant weeds in the south. And, northern growers are only a few steps behind with resistant acres steadily increasing. Syngenta is dedicated to helping producers maintain their profitability and providing them solutions in the face of glyphosate resistance.”

The enhanced Resistance Fighter Solution Builder provides thousands of solutions for corn, soybeans and cotton. Growers and retailers just need to enter where they live, what crops they grow, and their problem weeds, and the solutions builder develops a detailed resistance management plan. Recommendations include Syngenta Resistance Fighter™ brands like Prefix®, Boundary®, Bicep II Magnum®, Lumax®, Lexar®, Callisto®, Halex® GT, and Gramoxone Inteon®. Newly added solutions for cotton include Reflex®, Sequence®, Suprend® and more.

The Resistance Fighter Blog encourages visitors to join in the conversation about glyphosate weed resistance through learning what is happening on the front lines of resistance. Each week the blog discusses current happenings throughout the U.S., comments on how to handle difficult-to-control weeds, what industry experts and producers are saying about glyphosate resistance in their counties, and offers solutions to difficult weed situations.

“Glyphosate is a rare innovation that we need to preserve. With no new herbicide modes of action on the horizon, tough weeds like waterhemp, giant ragweed and Palmer pigweed are only going to become increasingly difficult to control without a multi-year resistance management program,” Foresman said. “Resistancefighter.com is a valuable resource to help growers and retailers develop a plan that includes residual and pre-emergence herbicides we’ve found to be so important to fighting resistance.”

Since 2001, Syngenta has been on the forefront of the fight against glyphosate resistance development, providing growers the potential for strong yields and high quality crops. To join the battle against glyphosate-resistant weeds, check out resistancefighter.com.
