Syngenta Crop Protection gains U.S./EPA registration for axial TBC herbicide on cereal crops

.

Greensboro, North Carolina
February 19, 2009

Syngenta Crop Protection announced Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registration of Axial® TBC herbicide to control grass and broadleaf weeds in winter wheat, spring wheat and barley. State registrations may still be pending. Please check with your state regulatory agency to determine registration status.

“Axial TBC is the all-in-one grass and broadleaf herbicide cereal growers have been looking for,” said Shawn Potter, herbicide brand manager for Syngenta. “Growers know grass weeds can rob yield potential. So, we’ve started with the best grass control product for mixed annual grasses – Axial®. We know they want all-in-one convenience, so we premixed it with florasulam to control the core spectrum of broadleaf weeds.

“But we also realize that a field’s weed spectrum varies. So we’ve developed

Axial TBC to give customers the flexibility to tailor their broadleaf weed control solutions to their most problematic weeds.”

Beyond convenience of combined grass-broadleaf weed control, Axial TBC helps growers protect their cereal crop investments. Not only can they tailor their broadleaf solutions, they can also time weed control to best fit their farm. The wide application window enables growers to better manage workloads and resources, as well as work around weather challenges. One-pass control saves trips across the field, which equates to savings in fuel, labor and equipment wear and tear. In addition, timely weed control stops weeds from interfering with crop growth and enables the crop to more efficiently utilize nutrients and moisture.

Because Axial TBC can be applied to both wheat and barley, growers can easily move between crops without needing to clean the tank and switch products. This also means no crop injury risk from tank contamination as they move between their wheat and barley crops.

“Axial TBC is applied at a single use rate,” explained Don Porter, herbicide technical brand manager for Syngenta. “This avoids any confusion about what rate growers need to apply. Axial TBC also has excellent crop safety on wheat and barley and provides growers with rotational crop flexibility the following growing season.”
