Bayer CropScience
and the China National
Rice Research Institute (CNRRI) have today signed two
agreements in the area of rice research and development. Both
parties will begin collaborations in trait development and
breeding.
The agreements build on a cooperation framework between Bayer
CropScience and the Chinese
Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) which was
established in 2008. Under this framework, Bayer CropScience is
engaged in dialogue with CAAS affiliated institutes such as the
CNRRI in the areas of rice, cotton, canola, soybean and safety
assessment.
‘We want to intensify our research and development activities in
Asia and we look forward to working with CNRRI. By introducing
high-yielding hybrids, we intend to make a contribution to
securing the world’s food supply in the 21st century", said
Professor Friedrich Berschauer, Chairman of the Board of
Management of Bayer CropScience, at the signing ceremony in
Beijing.

cooperation with Bayer CropScience in many fields and in
different forms. Rice is the most important crop in China's
agricultural production. Through the signing of the agreement,
we are looking forward to promoting and boosting food security
in China and the world at large", said Dr. Huqu Zhai, President
of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

participation for mutual benefits, which will enhance the
development of rice science and technology", added Dr. Xiyuan
Liao, deputy director general of CNRRI, at the signing ceremony.

national agricultural research organization, directly affiliated
to the Ministry of Agriculture. CAAS has a strategic task of

Bayer CropScience und chinesisches Reisinstitut CNRRI
vereinbaren Zusammenarbeit
Bayer CropScience und das China National Rice Research Institute
(CNRRI) haben zwei Vereinbarungen zur Erforschung und
Entwicklung von Reis unterzeichnet. Beide Partner werden bei der
Entwicklung von Pflanzeneigenschaften und der Züchtung
zusammenarbeiten.
Die Vereinbarungen basieren auf einem im Jahre 2008 zwischen
Bayer CropScience und der Chinese Academy of Agricultural
Sciences (CAAS) festgelegten Kooperationsrahmen. Gemäß diesem
Rahmenabkommen steht Bayer CropScience in den Bereichen Reis,
Baumwolle, Canola, Sojabohnen sowie in Fragen der
Sicherheitsbewertung in einem ständigen Dialog mit Instituten,
die mit dem CAAS verbunden sind - wie etwa dem CNRRI.
"Wir beabsichtigen, unsere Forschungs- und
Entwicklungsaktivitäten in Asien zu intensivieren und freuen uns
darauf, mit dem CNRRI zusammenzuarbeiten.
Mit der Einführung von Hochertrags-Hybridsorten wollen wir einen
Beitrag dazu leisten, die Versorgung der Welt mit
Nahrungsmitteln sicherzustellen", sagte Professor Friedrich
Berschauer, Vorstandsvorsitzender von Bayer CropScience, bei der
Unterzeichung der Verträge in Peking.
"Für CAAS ist die Zusammenarbeit mit Bayer CropScience auf
verschiedenen Gebieten und in verschiedenen Formen sehr wichtig.
Reis ist die wichtigste Feldfrucht in der chinesischen
Landwirtschaft. Mit diesem Abkommen wollen wir die
Ernährungssicherheit in China und weltweit sichern und
verbessern", sagte Dr. Huqu Zhai, Präsident der Chinese Academy
of Agricultural Sciences.
"Zwischen beiden Parteien ist eine von Fairness und
beiderseitigen Vorteilen geprägte starke Partnerschaft
entstanden, die für die Verbesserung von Wissenschaft und
Technologie im Reisanbau von großer Bedeutung ist", erklärte Dr.
Xiyuan Liao, stellvertretender Generaldirektor des CNRRI, bei
der Unterzeichnung der Vereinbarungen.
