Syngenta Crop
Protection today announced that the Georgia Department of
Agriculture, Pesticide Division, has granted Section 18
emergency exemptions for the use of Inspire Super™ MP and
Vangard® WG fungicides for the control of gummy stem blight in
cucurbits. Together these 2 products make up the Inspire Super
MP Multipack. This multipack consists of Inspire Super MP
fungicide – a member of the Inspire™ brand family, containing
the active ingredient difenoconazole—and Vangard WG fungicide,
containing cyprodinil.
By combining two powerful active ingredients at robust rates,
Syngenta is able to provide cucurbit growers with strong
preventive and post-infection activity against gummy stem
blight.
“Difenoconazole, proven in many countries to be one of the most
powerful triazole fungicides available, allows Syngenta to offer
years of proven performance to Georgia growers in the form of
Inspire Super MP,” said David Laird, fungicide brand manager for
Syngenta. “Bringing together difenoconazole and cyprodinil
offers cucurbit growers in Georgia the ability to control gummy
stem blight while improving crop quality and yield.”
Inspire brand family products began receiving EPA registration
in February 2008. Difenoconazole is a new active ingredient in
these markets and serves as a strong rotation partner with
strobilurins, like Quadris® fungicide. Difenoconazole shows high
translaminar activity and is rainfast after drying.
“Syngenta is encouraged by this approval and is excited about
what it means for Inspire brands,” said Laird. “We’re pleased to
know how strong the support is for this new chemistry among our
customers and the organizations that support them.”
Georgia cucurbit growers affected by the Section 18 should
contact their local retailer or Syngenta representative for use
rates, application timing and other product information.
