Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
May 14, 2008

BASF is pleased to announce the winners of its CLEARFIELD Lentil Dream Acre Contest. Three, randomly selected, Saskatchewan growers have won one of three CLEARFIELD lentil production grand prizes, valued at $10,000 each.
BASF would like to congratulate:

• Brian Brown, Loreburn, Saskatchewan
• Brian Stirton, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan
• Ray Herauf, Davidson, Saskatchewan

Each winning grower will receive everything needed to produce 160 acres of award-winning CLEARFIELD lentils this season, including his choice of CDC Impact or CDC Imperial CLEARFIELD lentil varieties, ODYSSEY® DLX herbicide, HEADLINE® fungicide, and Next Generation TagTeam® inoculant. Also included in the Dream Acre prize package is a two hour commodity marketing consultation with Larry Weber of Weber Commodities Ltd., for each grower and three guests.

“On behalf of BASF, we’d like to congratulate Brian Brown, Brian Stirton, and Ray Herauf,” says Scott Chapman, BASF Canada CLEARFIELD Lentil Brand Manager. “The CLEARFIELD Production System for Lentils offers lentil growers a new, innovative way to produce lentils. As a complete system, CLEARFIELD lentils give growers access to agronomically strong, high yielding lentil varieties, with all the convenience and financial benefits of the CLEARFIELD herbicide-tolerant system. Each of the winning growers will be able to see first-hand how well CLEARFIELD lentils perform this season.”

The CLEARFIELD Lentil Dream Acre contest was open to lentil growers from Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. To be eligible for the grand prize, growers had to book their CLEARFIELD lentil seed and sign a CLEARFIELD Commitment by February 28, 2008.

The award-winning CDC Impact CLEARFIELD lentil seed, which these contest winners can select, was produced by Walter Fast of Fast Seed Farm, who was the 2007 Canadian Western Agribition Pedigreed Seed Competition Grand Aggregate Pulse Champion.
